Beauty queries

I am 16-years-old. My hair has started thinning since the past two years and my hair volume has decreased considerably. I had good growth earlier. Can hair be regrown naturally? If so please suggest ways to get back my hair, ways that produce permanent and great results.    —Anastasia
Hair volume and growth is mostly genetically determined so if you had it, you will have it again. It could just be stress at school or maybe eating habits and lifestyle that is affecting it now. Start off with keeping your scalp clean, as in wash your hair every alternate day and oil before bathing. There are lots of great after bath oils also available that help the hair shine. Eat well, do not omit any food groups, specially oils. You could get a blood test done to check for low iron levels that can be corrected with oral supplements. Changing hormones at this age can be a cause too.

I am a 14-year-old girl. Two months ago, I had boils on my face and body too. They disappeared after one week but left black marks behind. I am using a face pack of haldi and nutmeg (jaifal) as suggested by my doctor, but it is just lightening the marks. Please suggest a home remedy to get rid of it.

Any mark on the skin takes time to fade off. Even if you don’t do anything it will fade eventually. Try chandan or sandalwood paste or powder mixed in milk, you can leave it as a pack on the marks over night or at least for 30 minutes. Make sure you use sunscreen during the day. Try glycolic, kojic or azelic acid ointments available at the chemist.

I am a 19-year-old boy. The skin on my face is very oily due to which my face appears dark. Can you suggest a home remedy to decrease the oil on my face?
    —Dharmendra
This is because of your hormones and most young men suffer from this. The excessive oiliness not only makes skin look dull and dark, but can also lead to comedones and acne. Try dabbing lemon juice on the T-zone and make sure you use a right face wash.
Try Cleanance or Spongy sal face wash. You can use this three-four times a day.
