The bigger, the thicker, the better! It’s eyebrows, of course, that we are talking about. While some actresses like Brooke Shields and Jennifer Connelly have them naturally, more women are going all out to replicate the style. The effortless make-up look has become common with models like Cara Delevingine flaunting bare faces and nude lips. Naturally hairy brows are replacing the once over-plucked ones.
Thick brows not only add a strong look to the face but also highlight beautiful eyes. A prominent trend at the recent New York and London Fashion Weeks, the power brow effect is a great way to accentuate facial features.
Make-up expert Ruhee M Bindra says thick and bushy eyebrows are back in vogue. “They make your features look softer. The look can be achieved with a good MAC eyebrow pencil, gel pencil or an eyebrow kit. Lightly draw a line in the shape of your eyebrows, and thicken it by going one notch more than your original shape,” she suggests. Thick eyebrows suit all face types, especially women who have a big forehead, as it makes the forehead look smaller.
Thick eyebrows give a strong and youthful look compared to a very thin brow, says make-up and hair expert Priya Kapur. “To maintain a good bushy brow, one must only pluck the extra hair surrounding the actual brow line and shape. Over plucking may leave the brow looking pencil thin, a look that’s to be avoided. Trimming the long brow hair will help define the shape. Using a brow filler, one can fill in the spaces between the fine brow hairs. Always remember to use one shade lighter than your actual hair colour to create soft but statement eyebrows,” she says. To avoid the manly bushy eyebrow, maintaining the brow in the above way is essential, rather than letting it grow unevenly.
