On hold regularisation of residential colonies at Jaipur shall end with approval of Zonal Development plans expected to be tabled at the development authority meeting chaired by the urban development minister, scheduled this Tuesday. As residents of non-regularised colonies expect a grant of a legal title, it shall also help to develop revenue scenario for the authority.

There are hundreds of colonies waiting for regularisation, the process was though on hold for implementation of Zonal Development Plan following high court orders. It was thus that the authority has put the work on the fast track and plans for 14 zones are in wait for the final nod. The regularisation though shall also bring in revenue for the authority.

“The regularisation of cooperative housing colonies and those of Prithviraj Nagar have been on hold since November, as the process re-commences it shall also bring in revenue for the authority,” says a senior officer at JDA. The authority has also been facing a difficult situation in cash generation following a slump in the real estate market. Regularisation of these colonies can potentially help JDA to raise hundreds of crore in short duration.

A major contribution shall come from Prithviraj Nagar that has only 437 of the 850 colonies regularised so far. However, all of these wait for development as authority facing financial crisis has been slow in development of the entire area. A zonal plan in implementation and revenue arriving from registration shall help the authority to develop basic infrastructure that the residents have been agitating over.
