Though India's relationship with Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar has been cordial, the biggest threat to peace in the South Asian neighbourhood comes from Pakistan and China. In the Zee JLF discussion titled Waters of Contention: Asian Faultiness, the panelists were unequivocal in their condemnation of Beijing, which has built large dams in Tibet, the source of many rivers, including the Brahmaputra.

Author and columnist pointed out how China has repeatedly flouted a rule-based international system to further its interests. Another speaker Manoj Joshi highlighted how China's port-building initiatives is actually a ruse for developing maritime bases. The panelists proposed creating a coalition to put pressure on China to mend it's ways.

The other session titled The People Next Door, featuring panelists from Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar highlighted the need for greater people-to-people convergence through cultural exchange programmes with greater participation of the youth.
