Yoga can help reduce suicides among students: Baba Ramdev

Ramdev, who is in Kota for the International Yoga Day to be held on June 21, said yoga can help in cutting down suicides among students as it not only lessen stress but also help better students’ concentration power.

Baba Ramdev on Tuesday organised a yoga camp for students of coaching institutes in Kota with a view to relieving the stress faced by them.

Ramdev, who is in Kota for the International Yoga Day to be held on June 21, said yoga can help in cutting down suicides among students as it not only lessen stress but also help better students’ concentration power.

Talking about the International Yoga Day, more than 50 new records related to yoga will be made and registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. More than 2 lakh people are expected take part in yoga programme on June 21. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will also take part.

Ramdev said the reason why Kota has been selected for this purpose is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make this education city a ‘Yoga City’ also. Following several suicide cases of coaching students, PM Modi has taken an initiative to stop suicides among students.

On Tuesday, Ramdev gave a yoga Mantra to the coaching students to relieve their stress. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, more than 50 new records related to Yoga will be made and registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. More than 2 lakh people are expected to be a part of the Yoga program on June 21 in Kota including around 1.5 lakh students of various coaching institutes. To register the records in the Guinness Book, the team has also reached Kota from London. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will also be a part of the program.

Ramdev started the three-day program of Yoga in Kota with a 2-day rehearsal for the Yoga Day programme on Tuesday. The event is being organised at RAC ground. Thousands of people and students participated on the first day of the rehearsals of the program and performed yoga under the supervision of Baba Ramdev.

A Modi Initiative

International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015. PM Narendra Modi earlier in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June for the yoga day, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.
