Won’t say Bharat Mata Ki Jai, but’ll cheer Sonia Gandhi: Vasundhara Raje slams Congress

Taking the fight to her arch rival and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s home, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje lashed out at the Congress party leaders saying they hold Sonia Gandhi in higher regard than their own country. She said that the Congress leaders will not say Bharat Mata ki Jai (hail motherland) but will cheer for Sonia Gandhi, the Congress matriarch.

Raje was addressing the public in the constituencies of Jodhpur district from where Gehlot is contesting the polls. The former chief minister is fighting the elections from the Sardarpura constituency in Jodhpur which has has represented for 5 straight terms as a legislator now. Raje was attending pre-election meetings at Osia, Bhopalgarh and Bilara assembly constituencies in Jodhpur which is considered to be Gehlot’s stronghold.Raje reached Jodhpur airport around 12.00 noon from Dungarpur. She then took feedback of the BJP leaders at a lodge in Jodhpur district. “She discussed about the trends of voters, the status of BJP candidates and the election preparedness of the workers,” a party official said.

Later, she went to Osian by the helicopter. Raje, who started  the election meeting from Osia assembly constituency in Marwar, reached the famous Sachiyaya Mata Temple where she offered her prayers. Immediately after visit to the temple, Raje took on Gehlot by comparing the achievements of his government while recounting the development works carried out in the Osia area by the BJP governments in the state and at the Centre.

In her 15-minute speech she appealed to the locals to for lotus flower. She said that Congress did the work of taking advantage of the votes. Congress had 50 years and Gehlot is seeking an account of five years’ work. The BJP, she said, has worked in five years, so much so that even in the last fifty years Congress works don’t stand up to scrutiny. The Congress did not remember the poor in 50 years, Raje said. She said the BJP has done the job of getting the women stand up on their own feet. In the cases of rape, 9 accused have been awarded death penalty. She said that this is a people’s election and we all have to walk the path of development. BJP candidate and MLA Bhararam Seol called himself a native of the village and addressed the opposing candidate Divya Maderna as an Englishman. 

After the meeting, the Chief Minister left Osia for the meeting at They now joined the meeting at Kisan Circle Panchayat Samiti office in Bhopalgarh.l where she addressed the gathering in support of BJP candidate Kmasa Meghwal.
