Shri Rajput Karni Sena has escalated its agitation for the complete ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film on Rani Padmavati. The Rajput community is very angry over the film. Shri Karni Sena held a meeting on Monday with several organisations to discuss the strategy for the ban on the film. In the Jauhar Swabhiman Sammelan, founder of Karni Sena Lokendra Singh Kalvi, president Mahipal Makrana and thousands of Rajputs were present.

After the programme, a vehicle rally was taken out in the city and a memorandum was handed over to the district administration. The speakers said that the film must be banned across the country as distortion of history would not be tolerated. Rajput women are also prepared and around 1700 women from the community have registered their names for Jauhar.

They warned to commit Jauhar as a respect to Rani Padmini on January 25. The youth are also ready. “We are ready to wear kesariya bana. The government is because of us. It will pay heed to our demand. We do not want any violence because of us,” Kalvi said. According to him, if the government wants, it can ban the film under section 6 of cinema act irrespective of CBFC certificate.

“We will not allow maligning our history and ready to die for it. If something happens to us, you people do not back off. The film must be banned in the national interest. This is our demand from the PM,” he said.

The Rajput leader refused to meet prime minister on Tuesday and alleged that their statements are blown out of proportion. When asked about supporting the party in the by-election, he said he is with the community. Whatever decision taken by the organisations he would support that. Earlier, national general secretary of Hindustan Shiv Sena Jeetu Sindhi welcomed Kalvi and Makrana and assured his support.
