He had applied for bail which got rejected and the court sent him to judicial custody till March 5,” the police officials said.

But the accused again appealed in court seeking an interim bail. “He sought an interim bail for five days from February 20-24 and cited that in Hindu tradition once a marriage is finalised it is not postponed and if the marriage is not solemnised it would defame the families of the groom and the bride,” the officials said.

The court has granted him one day’s bail. “His marriage was scheduled for Tuesday for which Jail officials took him to the marriage place and brought him back before the stipulated time ended,” said the police.
