Jaunapuria was reportedly upset with social activist Akbar Khan who has been agitating for a rail line to Tonk for quite some time.
Another video going viral has added to the embarrassment and troubles of the ruling BJP. This time it features BJP MP from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria who can be seen and heard threatening a social activist with dire consequences.
The clip is said to be of February 18 and shot at a wedding ceremony in Tonk. Jaunapuria was reportedly upset with social activist Akbar Khan who has been agitating for a rail line to Tonk for quite some time. Jaunapuria chided Khan for demanding that the MP pitch in for the cause. He warned Khan against raising slogans in his name and threatened Khan with dire consequences if he did so.
In the video clip, Jaunapuria using highly abusive vocabulary can be seen telling Khan to raise the demands with the local BJP MLA Ajeet Mehta. The clip has since gone viral and is a cause of resentment not just among locals, but also among the political circles of Tonk.
Speaking to DNA the activist Akbar Khan confirmed the incident. “I met the MP at a wedding and he was upset with me for leading the agitation for a train to Tonk. I told him that as an MP it was his duty to press the issue with the state government and the CM, especially as it is they who have to allocate land for the rail line. He threatened me with dire consequences,” confirmed Khan.
However, Khan refused to lodge an FIR against the MP, “His behaviour is on display for all to see. I will not lodge an FIR, I would rather utilise my energies constructively to further my cause,” he said.
All attempts to contact BJP MP from Tonk were futile. He was not available on his phone and his staff said he is in Delhi.
