You must have seen people saving panthers, tigers, snakes, pythons, monkeys, dogs etc. by relocating them from one place to another. Well, in a unique initiative some people from Menar village, also known as Bird Village, of Udaipur district have presented a wonderful example of kindness by relocating fish.

Due to the lack of water in the area, the fish population was in the brink of death. However, the villagers while showing their affection towards the aquatic creatures filled some water in the dry pits of the pond with the help of around ten to fifteen water tankers.

However, 10-15 tankers were not enough for the pond of such a huge capacity. So, the residents of the village decided to report the matter to the forest department urging them to saving the fish. On getting the information, the team of the forest department reached the spot immediately and put the fish in large drums full of water after pulling them out of the pond with the help of traps. Later, the fish were left safely in Brahma Sagar Lake situated at the other end, where the water level is still better. This noble task by the villagers gave a new lease of life to the fish.

There are two ponds in Menar village named Dand Lake and Brahma Sagar Lake. Birds from different parts of the world come to these lakes in winters, which attracts both national and international tourists.

Due to the presence of birds, the village is also known as the Bird Village. It is worth mentioning here that no one kills fish and other animals in this village. Even the hunters stay away from this place due to the very alert villagers.
