Vasundhara Raje pitches for girls’ education in Sikar

The chief minister cited the example of Anupriya, a student from Sikar, who is being sponsored by the Rajasthan Government to pursue a course in B Tech at California University.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday visited Sikar where she met various sections of the society and held Jansunvais (public hearing). Friday was the first day of her four-day tour to Sikar.

Raje stressed upon the importance of girls’ education and said her government was committed to help deserving girls get education in the best institutions so that they are empowered to lead a good life ahead.

The chief minister cited the example of Anupriya, a student from Sikar, who is being sponsored by the Rajasthan Government to pursue a course in B Tech at California University.

Addressing the Jansamvad programme at Patan in the Neem Ka Thana constituency,  Raje said Gargi Awards, bicycle, scooty and laptops are distributed to encourage deserving girls to have better access to quality education.

Raje performed the traditional ‘goud bharai’ ceremony for five women. She garlanded them and gave them gifts and dry fruits. She wished them a safe and happy motherhood. She also launched a signature campaign for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme.

The chief minister issued instruction to fulfil the local demand for a larger storage capacity in the blood bank. Residents informed Raje that more than 3,000 units of blood is annually donated in the area, but it largely goes waste due to non-availability of adequate storage.

Eight children with cardiac problems who had benefited under the National Children’s Health Programme by getting free treatment at hospitals in Jaipur also met the chief minister.

The gram sevaks from Sikar who have been elevated to the post of gram vikas officers met the chief minister to express their gratitude. More than 9,000 gram 
sevaks in the state have been elevated.

Raje met various sections of the society from Neem Ka Thana constituency. She also took stock of the progress of flagship programmes of the state government.

MP Sikar Swami Sumedhanand, Devasthan minister Rajkumar Rinwa, MLA Abhishek Matoria, chairperson Sainik Kalyan Board Prem Singh Bajore and senior officials ofadministration and police were present during the public hearing.
