As the assembly election is approaching, with passing each day the Raje government is striving to fulfill promises made in the budget. The government on Wednesday issued two notifications in this regard. They include giving ex-servicemen reservation in direct recruitment and relaxation in minimum marks for ST/SC candidates.

The department of personnel (DoP) issued a circular notifying rules under Rajasthan Civil Services (Absorption of Ex-Servicemen) Amendment Rules, 2018. The new rules allow reservation of posts for ex-servicemen in direct recruitment: 5 percent in the state services, 12.5 percent in ministerial and subordinate services and 15 percent in Class-4th services.

“The reservation for ex-servicemen shall be treated as horizontal reservation and it shall be adjusted in the respective category to which the ex-servicemen belongs,” clarified the notification.

In another notification, the DoP has amended Rajasthan Secretariat Ministerial Service Rules, 2017 regarding relaxation given in marks to Scheduled Castes and Tribes candidates as per the budget announcement.

The rules say that “the commission shall not recommend any candidate who has failed to obtain a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of the paper of phase-1 and a minimum of 36 percent marks in each of the paper of phase-II of the competitive examination. However relaxation in minimum marks up to 5 percent shall be available in each paper of each phase to Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe category candidate,” said the notification. Both notifications will provide relief to the applicants coming from categories of ex-servicemen and ST/SC.
