The issue of 10 per cent reservation to the Economically Backward Class (EBC) in Rajasthan created an uproar in the assembly On Tuesday.

BJP legislators raised slogans against the state government demanding 10 per cent reservation for EBC. BJP MLA Kiran Maheshwari said that the Union government has given 10 percent reservation to the EBC but the Rajasthan government has not taken any decision on this. There are a lot of movements in Rajasthan for this demand. The state government should make an announcement in this regard. 

When no reply came from the ruling party, then the BJP legislator led by the leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria came to well and started sloganeering. They demand that the state government make an immediate announcement on the EBC reservation. The assembly speaker was seen asking the BJP MLAs to take their seats but they kept raising slogans.

Energy Minister BD Kalla said that his party has already passed a proposal to give 14 percent reservation to EBC in 2003. The BJP government at Centre reduced it to four percent. The state government will make a decision about this when a constitution amendment bill comes to the state assembly. He said that BJP is doing politics on EBC reservation. 

Later, Speaker CP Joshi said that the motion of thanks for the Governor’s address is under discussion. Responding to the discussion, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will answer all the points raised by the opposition. After the ruling of the Speaker, the members of the Opposition went back to their seats.
