Primary health centeres (PHCs) in the stare are changing for the better, as two of the state PHCs have made it to the prestigious list of NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) accredited PHCs. These PHCs are at Khandwa Patta in Churu district and Bhadoti, in Sawai Madhopur district. Both PHCs are the first in Rajasthan to receive NABH accreditation. Presently only 64 PHCs in the country have been accredited by NABH, with the majority centres (52) being from Maharashtra.

Developed by the group of experts after rigorous deliberations, NABH accreditation standards for PHC are primarily focused on procedures, practices, and equipment. The accreditation validates that the PHCs are following the latest standards necessary for better clinical outcomes and patient safety, especially in facility and equipment management, preventing infections. NABH accreditation is a national body, a constituent board of Quality Council of India that sets benchmarks and reviews quality and progress of health industry. The accreditation is for 3 years and will be reviewed again in January 2022.

Both the PHCs are being managed by Wadhwani Initiative of Sustainable Healthcare (WISH). Dr. Dipanjan Roy of WISH, said that “the achievement is a motivation for the team who worked hard to transform the underperforming centers to the desired levels and strengthens our enthusiasm to strive harder to achieve our goal of transforming health centers into WISH technology enabled Health and Wellness Centres.”
