Train derails in Jaipur, loco pilot, passengers injured

On Friday afternoon, the engine and a bogey of a train entering the yard at the Sanganer railway station derailed, resulting in minor injuries to the loco pilot and a few passengers. As the incident occurred, the security and administrative officials along with passengers waiting at the platforms rushed towards the spot and rescued the passengers and the loco pilot. Public representatives also rushed to the spot on learning about the incident and have ordered an inquiry into the matter. No loss of life was reported in the incident. Meanwhile, the incident has caused disruption in the railway services as well and a few trains have been stopped.

The incident occurred at around 12.55 PM when the Dayodaya express – train number 12181 – plying between Jabalpur and Ajmer was entering the yard. “Since the train was entering the yard, it was being driven slowly by the pilot. However, after crossing a point in the tracks, a loud noise came from the tracks and when the officials looked towards the direction from where the sound originated, they were shocked to find that the train had derailed,” officials said.

As the train derailed, officials immediately rushed towards the spot. “Within seconds, the GRP officials and station officials reached the spot and found that the engine and the first bogey had derailed and overturned. The officials immediately set about rescuing the passengers and the loco pilots in the train who were taken out from the emergency windows and doors. Meanwhile, the information was immediately forwarded to senior officials while the tracks were also marked thus stopping the passing of trains on the tracks,” officials said.
