Several parents in the city are taking a back step in sending their wards to schools as the temperature is continuously taking a dip in the morning, and there is an increase in fog.

Students, especially in pre-primary, and primary schools, find it difficult to leave the house early in the morning, around 6:45 am, when it is still dark.

Jaipur district collector, Siddharth Mahajan, however, has no current plans to delay the school timings or declare a holiday due to weather. “The parents or the teachers, even the students, have not requested for any change in the schedule or timing as yet. Several private schools are anyway closed this week. We will probably take a call by Friday,” Mahajan said. It is to be noted that, while several schools currently have their winter breaks, they will be re-opening on January 8, 2018, when the situation is not expected to improve. “By the time the student reaches school the sun is already out. The time of departure from house depends where the student is coming from, and which school they are going to,” said Madhu Maini, principal, Jayshree Periwal High School.

Maini further expressed that while the schools follow the orders released by the Collector in case of emergency, there should not be a holiday as the entire curriculum planned for the month goes for a toss. However, some parents believe that the children should be sent to schools at every situation as it helps them grow physically and mentally.
