Three die, over a dozen injured as two buses collide in Dausa

A day after 13 people died and over a hundred were injured in three separate highway accidents in the state, another accident occurred on Monday near Jaipur resulting in death of three and injuries to over a dozen people. The accident occurred when two buses collided and  a major traffic jam ensued on the highway leaving vehicles lined up for several hundred metres. Hours later the damaged buses were removed. 

According to the police the accident occurred near Reta village in Dausa district. “The accident occurred between a roadways bus and a rural public transport bus plying on contract basis collided on Jaipur — Agra highway. While crossing the Reta petrol pump area on the highway, the rural transport bus was being driven behind the roadways bus. It appears that the driver of the bus tried to overtake the roadways bus, however, as he sped he could not keep the bus under control as a result of which the bus rammed into the roadways bus from behind,” police said.

As the crash occurred, the roadways driver also lost control over the vehicle. “Local villagers who heard the collision rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operation. Meanwhile, the police was also informed and they rushed the injured to hospital,” police said. However, three passengers were declared dead by the doctors as they succumbed to the injuries. Eighteen people have been admitted for treatment and their condition is reported to be stable.
