Swanky theme parks with art galleries to celebrate girl child in 14 Rajasthan cities

The parks are being developed with the motive to maintain the dignity of girl child, to tell people about the importance of girls in the society and to celebrate birth of girl child, Agarwal added.

The Rajasthan government, in a first of its kind initiative in the country to promote girl child, is going to develop public parks dedicated to them. These parks shall be named Beti Gaurav Udhyan (BGU) and will be developed with the objective to spread importance of teh girl child in society and celebrate the birth of one.

“As of now, land has been identified at 14 places and civil work has started at all sites,” Devendra Agarwal, advisor to state told dna. “The entry of girls will be free in these parks. Achievement of local girls at national and international level will be showcased at the art gallery at these parks,” he said. 

The parks are being developed with the motive to maintain the dignity of girl child, to tell people about the importance of girls in the society and to celebrate birth of girl child, Agarwal added. 

As per 2011 census in Rajasthan, the child sex ratio is 888 females per 1,000 males. According to the health department data, in the last five years, the state’s sex ratio-at-birth figures have increased by 42 points and the figure for the 2015-16 period is 929 females per 1,000 males.

The parks will be developed in areas of Urban Improvement Trust and Development Authority. Ajmer, Jaipur and Jodhpur have development authorities and 15 cities including Abu Road, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bhiwadi, Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Kota, Pali, Sawai Madhopur, Shrianganagar, Sikar and Udaipur have UITs. 

“The BGUs are being developed on minimum 5 acres of land and maximum up to 50 acres depending upon the availability of land. At least 25% area of the park will be developed under public private partnership (PPP) mode for making the park self-sustainable, which will be on international themes such as water parks, snow park, and the remaining 75% area will be developed through community participation and corporate social responsibility,” said Agarwal.

The parks, for each city, will have different themes and different sections where a family can spend quality time, from morning till evening. “The Kota BGU will be on the students’ theme, having adventure sports while Barmer will have theme of club house in which TT, badminton and other club games will be there, Abu Road will be on tourism theme,” said Agarwal.

The parks will help in increasing happiness index, encourage children for outdoor activities, who otherwise are busy playing on computer and mobile phones and will promote the atmosphere of family outing and spending quality time.
