Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot, claimed that he is confident of Congress getting an absolute majority in Rajasthan in upcoming Assembly elections.
Congress is taking a substantial edge in vote share over ruling BJP in Rajasthan, a survey conducted by ABP News and CSDS said on Thursday.
According to the survey, the BJP is lagging behind the grand old party by 5 per cent vote share. If the elections are held in 200 Assembly constituencies now in Rajasthan, then the saffron party will gain 39 per cent vote share while the Opposition Congress is to emerge largest part securing 44 per cent, claims the survey.
In 2013, the BJP had secured 46 per cent vote share ousting the Congress which could secure nearly 33 per cent. The remaining 21 per cent vote share was secured by parties including BSP, NPP and the Independents. With this larger vote share the saffron party came into power and was able to get 163 seats while Congress was limited to just 21 seats.

When asked if the party will make an alliance with BSP, which has influence in certain seats, Pilot stated that the senior leadership will decide on forming an alliance with Mayawati’s party. The party’s media chairperson Archana Sharma, reacting to the survey, claimed that Congress will perform better than the survey states. “We will win more that two third seats in Rajasthan Assembly elections. The BJP will not be able to score 21 seats which we had in 2013 elections.”
It is worth mentioning here that the Congress won four of six assembly by-polls and the two parliamentary by-elections held in Ajmer and Alwar earlier this year. For the BJP it was a major set back as it failed to retain all seats.
