Spree of festivals: Now, Kumbhalgarh to host tourists

After Pushkar, now it is Kumbhalgarh that has kicked-off celebrations to mark the tourism season. The three-day Kumbhalgarh Festival in Rajsamand, that started from Saturday and will go on till December 3, will see artists showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the state and the Kumbhalgarh region in specific.

The artists from across the country have already reached the venue and various events were organized on the first day that included kathak performances and other cultural events in the backdrop of historic and majestic Kumbhalgarh Fort. On Sunday, performances on Rajasthani folk, Sufi, Kalbeliya, Bhavai among others will be given by the artists. 

On the last day, fusion of Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi and Kathak dance will be performed. The festival is being organized by department of tourism and on all the three days, various competitions for tourists will also be held.

The event is divided into two segments- day and night. In the daytime, folk performances by traditional artistes and competitions like turban tying and henna applying have been scheduled. While during night, impressive explosions of lights, sound, colours and dance have been organised. This is the time in the state when various tourism festivals are being organised to encourage tourists in the state.

After Pushkar Festival, which is already a world renowned event, the Bundi festival was organised between November 26 and November 28 in which a large number of tourists participated in various events. 

Once the Kumbhalgarh Festival will be over, tourists can once again enjoy the hospitality that the state has to offer and see its rich culture at Ranakpur and in Mount Abu. In Pali’s Ranakpur, tourism festival will be organised between December 21 and 22 while in Mount Abu winter festival will be celebrated from December 29 to 30. It is expected that a large number of foreign tourists will be coming for this festival to celebrate New Year.
