Special camps on Sunday so you can add names to the voters’ list

The camps will be open from 9am-6 pm. The work of getting the names corrected will also be done during these camps.

Individuals, who have attained the age of 18 years on January 1, and have not been able to get their names included in voters’ list can now do so this Sunday.

Special camps are being organised by district administration in all the assembly areas of the district on Sunday at the polling booths, officials with district collectorate told DNA. 

At these camps, the eligible people can get their names included in the voting list. For this purpose the booth level officers (BLO) will be present and will assist the people.

The camps will be open from 9am-6 pm. The work of getting the names corrected will also be done during these camps.

The district administration is taking this very seriously and has made arrangements. While it has asked all the BLOs to be present at the polling booths, it has also deputed 10 officials in different assembly areas as observers.

Additional district collector (I)  has been given the responsibility of Vidyadhar Nagar and Civil Lines assembly area while additional district collector (III) is in-charge of Jhotwara and Dudu assembly areas. Similarly for Bassi and Chaksu additional district collector (IV) has been entrusted with the task.

Meanwhile on Saturday, the work of reading the voters list in all the 19 assembly seats of Jaipur district was done. This exercise was carried out inall the wards and gram sabhas. This was done between 10am and 5pm.

The exercise had been done earlier also prior to  the state’s assembly polls. A draft of voters list was also issued on December 26. The young people who have not been able to get their names listed for voting in Lok Sabha polls can avail of this opportunity.

The officials take up the task of updating voter rolls periodically. “But, thiese camps are important as they would enable a voter to exercise his right in the upcoming general elections,” an official said. Those who missed out on the oppostunity to vote in the assembly polls in December can do so in the upcoming elections, he said.

Officials said Sunday camps have been specially planned and timed to offer enough time to voters who can’t update their name during working days. The move is epected to motivate such applicants, official added.
