In order to encourage movie producers to come and shoot in the state, the government may allow film shooting free of charge in the monuments of the state.

Though no decision is taken on this yet, the government has made a committee of various officials of department of archaeology and museums to review the rates of shooting in monuments and if found feasible the decision regarding this may be taken.

Sources informed that the committee will be reviewing the current rates as they have not been revised since long. Based on the report of the committee which will be received in a week’s time. A final decision will be taken on whether making movie shooting at monuments can be made free.

The present review may also be seen as a step to keep the movie producers happy and encouraged to shoot in Rajasthan.

While it is being claimed that Padmavati issue has nothing to do with the present review, but the timing of making a review of shooting rates at monuments is being taken in some quarters  as an indication of pacifying the movie producers. Moreover, the committee will also decide the rate for pre wedding shootings at monuments.

Currently there is no pre decided rate for such thing and every time a proposal of pre wedding shoot at monument comes, rate is decided based on case to case, informed the sources. The basic idea is to increase the number of movie makers shooting at monuments.

It may be recalled that several parts of controversial movie Padmavati were shot in Jaipur. Director Sanjay Bhansali faced opposition and was even roughed up which created controversy. Apart from Padmavati, movies like Salman Khan starrer Veer, Aishwarya Rai’s Jodha Akbar etc in recent years have been shot in Amber and other monuments of Jaipur and Rajasthan.
