Railway administration has temporarily increased the capacity of New Delhi-Ajmer-New Delhi Shatabdi express by adding one AC chair car temporarily in the train. Chief public relation officer of NWR Tarun Jain informed that in train number 12015/12016, one AC chair car will be added from October 10 till November 11.

This will facilitate the passengers from Jaipur, Alwar, Rewari and Gurgaon as 78 more seats of AC chair car will be available to them. This facility will be effective during the time of festivals.

A large number of people are trying to get a reservation in this train and this will help them in getting seats pretty easily. Currently, due to the ongoing strike of Rajasthan Roadways, the buses between Jaipur and Delhi are not being operated and passengers are using either Shatabdi Express or Double Decker train. These include the luxurious Volvo Scania bus service.

Notably, Rajasthan Roadways runs these luxurious buses between Jaipur and Delhi every hour between 5:30 am with the last bus at 12 am midnight. These buses are very popular amongst the passengers and are a challenge to Double Decker train which runs early morning from Jaipur and Shatabdi Express which runs early morning comes from Delhi.

However, since this service is not available, these days the passenger rush is increasing in trains and airlines. Moreover, since the festival days are coming near, Shatabdi becomes the favourite option for the passengers. Many passengers feel that if the capacity addition of coach was done from the first week of October, it could have helped them to avoid going to Delhi from Jaipur by private buses.

Roadways vs Railways

Rajasthan Roadways runs luxurious buses between Jaipur and Delhi every hour between 5:30 am with the last bus at 12 am. These buses which are very popular and are a challenge to Double Decker train are out of service due to the strike.
