The sensational Rajsamand live murder case has seen a fresh twist. Shambhu Lal Regar, who hacked to death Afrazul, a labourer from Bengal, and also recorded the gruesome incident on video, was apparently wrong about the threat to his life from a prisoner.

His motive was just to give a communal colour to the matter. He also said in the video that a man with a fake name Vasudev Brahmin as well as a fake address was locked up in the jail and that Vasudev was a jihadi who was a big threat to the country. Shambhu Lal’s claim that the so-called Vasudev was from Bangladesh also proved to be wrong.

The police seized the mobile phone from which the video was shot. Apparently, there were long conversations on WhatApp by Sambhu as well as other inmates.

His mobile phone was sent for investigation and initial probe revealed the possibility of operating mobile phones in jail with the help of the jail guards, jail guards and officials.

Now, investigation is going on to know who and how many guards and numberdars are involved in it and who sent the mobile phone to Shambhu and when. On the basis of these points, IG (jail) Rupinder Singh, who came from Jaipur, is quizzing Shambhu, other prisoners, jail guards and numberdars on the second day.

He is also investigating why the prisoners, home guards and jail guards are not being checked properly at the main entrance of the jail and how mobile phones are delivered inside the jail. Also, the mobile jammers of the jail aren’t working.

Jail IG Rupendra Singh told DNA that Shambhu’s claim of a Bangladeshi being a jihadi is an illusion. He added that Vasudev is not a Bangladeshi and is from West Bengal.

Singh added that Shambhu meticulously plans everything before execution.
