A police complaint has been logdged against lyricist and author Javed Akhtar at Sindhi Camp police station as protest against movie Padmavati continued across Rajasthan and other parts of the country on Tuesday. Akhtar has been accused of hurting sentiments of Rajput community in a coloum written by him ridiculing the controversy surrounding the movie.
"The lyricist went beyond limits and used objectionable language for Rajput community, that is unacceptable and action must be taken against him," said the complainant Pratap Singh, an advocate by profession and self-claimed social activist.
Even as he insisted for a FIR to be registered, the local police registered a complaint.
Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have also asked for necessary changes in the film before the same is released.
On Wednesday protests and demonstrations were held in several cities of the state demanding ban on the movie across the country. A public debate on the topic was also held at Jaipur during the day where many speaker objected to the alleged distortion of facts.
RANVEER STAND
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who essays the role of Alauddin Khilji in 'Padmavati', has finally broken silence over the controversy surrounding the film.
The 'Bajirao Mastani' actor has come out in support of the movie and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. "Like I have said before, I am 200% with the film and with my director. Given that it's a very sensitive time right now, I have been specifically asked not to say anything," Ranveer said on Tuesday. The 'Befikre' star also said that all further communication with regards to the film will be given by the producers.

As various social organisation join chorus against the movie at Rajasthan, an associate of transgender also demonstrated at Jodhpur on the issue. The demonstrators alleged that distortion of historical facts at the movie is disrespect of all communities.
