Newly elected Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) President CP Joshi has got the brains behind state’s Sports Act and RCA’s revised constitution to convince the BCCI of bringing cricket back in Rajasthan.
Joshi picked bureaucrat Sanjay Dixit who has helmed the RCA in past to represent him and the state cricketing body in a special general meeting (SGM) held in Mumbai on Monday. Sources informed that Dixit along with a retired bureaucrat and a legal team presented the case of lifting the ban on RCA before the officials of the BCCI.
The RCA is currently suspended by BCCI. The team was able to explain their side of the story to the BCCI officials after RCA president Joshi suspended his predecessor Lalit Modi’s membership in Nagaur district association.
“They presented their case and left the venue as they were not the part of the meeting,” informed a source speaking to DNA.
Interestingly, Dixit who is a serving bureaucrat is back in the RCA dressing room even though he is no longer a position holder anymore after the Lodha panel guidelines were adopted by RCA and he chose not to contest the polls, earlier.
Dixit was the secretary of RCA in 2011 when Joshi had won the president’s post. The bonhomie, however, turned sour after which Dixit was removed from the post of secretary. In 2012, Dixit and Lalit Modi, the bitter rivals, joined hands against CP Joshi and Modi was able to become president again in 2013 elections.
In another turn of events, RCA’s suspended secretary RS Nandu also met the BCCI officials and asked them to remove the ban on RCA.
Sources informed that the issue was said to be discussed in the committee of administrators of BCCI and they have sought legal opinion on the issue.
