Sachin Pilot raps govt over farmers’ loan waiver

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress committee chief Sachin Pilot slammed the state government for arresting farmers who were coming to Jaipur to stage a dharna over their demands with regard to farmers’ loan waivers. 

“Every citizen has a right to agitate for his demand in order to create pressure on the government. It is very unfortunate that the Raje government wants to suppress every agitation against it. The arrest of farmers who were demanding loan waiver reflects that the BJP government still acts in a feudal manner,” said Pilot, while releasing a statement. 

Furthermore, the Rajasthan Congress chief also took a jibe on Raje government for allegedly deceiving the agrarian community on farmers loan waiver. “Compared to BJP ruled states like Maharastra and Uttar Pradesh where loan was waived, the amount waived in Rajasthan is a drop in the ocean,” said Pilot. He added that the Raje government’s farmer loan waiver announcement  was not in compliance with the agreement the government reached with farmer leaders in September last year. 

Meanwhile, Pilot on Wednesday thanked party workers and leaders for working tirelessly in the recent byelection and enabling the party to win all three seats - Ajmer, Alwar and Mandalgarh. Congratulating leaders and workers, the party head called upon them to work for Rajasthan general elections. Leader of the opposition Rameshwer Dudi, former Union minister Jitendra Singh, Ajmer and Alwar MPs- Raghu Sharma, Karan Singh Yadav and Mandalgarh MLA Vivek Dhakar were present on this occasion.
