PCC chief Sachin Pilot expressed apprehension over some voters having multiple ID cards and also alleged that there is a conspiracy underway to demotivate the Congress party workers from casting votes in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Pilot while talking to media persons on Sunday night after an Iftar held at the PCC headquarters said, “For example, a family of Congress supporter has six members. Now, their name in electoral roll has been registered at several booths. This is being done so that they cannot cast votes collectively. Especially female voters have been registered in such manner. This apart, senior citizens and young voters are facing trouble in getting their names added in the electoral rolls.”
He added, “It has also come to the notice that voters are having two IDs, one in urban area while another in rural area, because they have two residential address.”
The state Congress head, however, has no evidence to support the allegations and he said that he would raise the voice effectively on the issue when he has all evidences in hand.
The PCC chief’s apprehensions will definitely create a flutter in state politics and in coming days the party leaders, having evidences might come forward, questioning the election officials.
The Congress workers, as per sources, have been already directed to scan electoral rolls and collect evidences. The Congress made similar allegations in Madhya Pradesh where it claimed registration of 60 lakh fake voters. Though, the Election Commission of India (ECI) rejected the allegations, finding them baseless.
