Marking the beginning of campaigning for university elections different political parties have started promoting their candidates more than one month prior to the Rajasthan University elections. The candidates can be currently spotted at various colleges under the university, helping students in various admission procedures.

“We help first year students in filling the admission forms and the second and third year students in completing other formalities. We also plan to resolve problems faced by students like having a library card and proper books,” said Surendra Singh Palsaniyan, a candidate from National Student’s Union of India.

The volunteers and supporters of various candidates are seen wearing tags featuring the candidates’ photograph along with their contact details and the name of the party at the college campuses. They are also seen distributing candidates’ visiting cards and introducing them to the students. “Students have been voting on the basis of caste since very long. The selected president cannot even write his name in English. I think they should now focus on the IQ of the candidate,” said Aditya Singh, a candidate from Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad. There are candidates who are standing for elections at both college, as well as university level, without any support from any political party.

“I am a BA final year student and have spent three years at Maharani’s college. I want to help solve problems faced by the girls on a day-to-day basis in the college,” said Neha Yadav, a student at Maharani’s college, who is standing for the post of the president.
