Rs 1 cr spent on Gaurav Yatra so far, BJP tells Rajasthan High Court

During the hearing, details of the amount spent on Yatra, were presented by BJP state president Madan Lal Saini.

The BJP has spent over 1 crore rupees towards the ongoing Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra, so far. In its reply tendered before the Rajasthan High Court, the BJP claimed that an amount of Rs 1,10,01,942 has already been on the Gaurav Yatra till now. The reply presented on behalf of the party’s state president Madan Lal Saini said that the settlement of the expenses would be made by the party once the yatra is over. 

Taking on the record, the reply submitted by the party, the court has decided to hear the case on August 25. A division bench of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice GR Mulchandani gave this order while hearing the PIL filed by Vibhuwati Bhushan Sharma.

During the hearing, details of the amount spent on Yatra, were presented by BJP state president Madan Lal Saini. On behalf of the BJP, the court was informed that Rs 41.30 lakh were spent on tents, Rs 75,224 on banners, Rs 2,34,123 on car rent, Rs 38,22,907 on branding and Rs 25,99,448 were spent on advertisements. 

During the Udaipur division visit between August 4 and August 10, Rs 1,40,240 was spent on petrol.

Through these details in court the party has clarified that the financial burden of the party’s programme has not been placed on the state government.

On the other hand, on behalf of the petitioner, it was said that the state government has given false information regarding the use of government resources by presenting affidavit in court. The petitioner submitted the document and said that the state government is now spending the government funds on Gaurav Yatra in the name of VVIP visit. In such a case, the person giving false affidavit should be prosecuted
