There should be reconsideration on reservation, said Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national president and Lok Sabha MP Poonam Mahajan. She added, “It is not so that reservation is bad altogether, but how it should be implemented and what is its history, should be kept in mind,” Mahajan said this while giving reply to questions during an interaction with students at Subodh College in Jaipur on Friday.

Mahajan while speaking to mediapersons after the programme said that it is important to see where and how this question of reservation is being raised. Mahajan after reaching Jaipur for a day-long visit, took part in programme titled ‘I am New India’ at Subodh College.

Mahajan was baffled by the questions on topics like student quota, terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, education, policy, women empowerment and various other issues, that were put up by the students.

BSc first year student Shivam Sharma’s question on reservation gave the BJYM national president a tough time. Sharma asked four related questions on quota on which Mahajan said that reservation should be reconsidered. She also could not give a specific reply to a question on the recent terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims. She said that people should have faith in prime minister Narendra Modi. He will give reply to Pakistan in his own way, she added.

She also called upon the students to work for the development of the country.

She also added that she never wanted to step into politics and her journey was not a journey but a suffering. She added that she never wanted to enter politics using a name and wanted to make a mark here on her own. “I lost the Assembly elections and it took me 10 years to reach where I am today,” Mahajan emphasised.

TAKE PATH OF HARDWORK TO GET SUCCESS: CM

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje while addressing the BJYM working committee advised the workers that they should follow the path of hard work rather than following the path which is easy and full of short cuts. Raje, while giving her example said that she worked her way to became a chief minister while she was in BJYM. She added that there is no dearth of opportunities for hard working workers in BJP. Poonam Mahajan while interacting with the BJYM workers asked them to take the works being done under the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Yojana and IT in Rajasthan. She also added that every year over 10 per cent new voters are being added to the voters’ list and the BJYM should work towards adding these voters into Bharatiya janata Party.
