Remembering brave soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas

Nineteenth anniversary of one of the greatest sagas of victory and valour of Indian Army was commemorated at the Jaipur Military Station. Lt Gen Vijay Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief Of Staff Sapta Shakti Command laid a wreath in remembrance of the gallant soldiers, who sacrificed their lives for the nation in the victory over Pakistan in the 1999 ‘Kargil Operations’. The ceremony was attended by all officers, JCOs and jawans of Jaipur Military Station, said Colonel Sombit Ghosh, PRO and Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence. 

‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ was also observed by the Konark Corps at Jodhpur Military Station on Thursday, by paying homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation in the victory over Pakistan in 1999. On the occasion, Major General RK Raina, Sena Medal, Chief of Staff Konark Corps laid a wreath at Konark Corps War Memorial to pay obeisance to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice and made this victory possible. 

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to commemorate the successful ‘Operation Vijay’ and the ‘Glorious Victory’ achieved in it by the Indian Army over Pakistani intruders in the Kargil War of 1999. The operation was launched on 6th May 1999 and lasted for 80 days before the intruders were evicted from the Indian Territory. 

Fighting at daunting altitudes and seemingly unassailable peaks, what our Indian troops achieved was nothing short of a miracle.
