Secretary of the Rajasthan Cricket Association claimed to have the support of nearly half of the district cricket associations to out the association vice president. The RCA secretary Rajendra Nandu has presented a resolution signed by 16 district cricket associations to appoint Rameshwar Chaudhary as the vice president against the sitting vice president Mohammad Iqbal. “Mohammad Iqbal cannot continue as RCA vice president as he does not fulfill qualifications of the Sports Act,” reads the resolution.

It further mentions a submission of Rameshwar Chaudhary who was the only contestant against Mohammad Iqbal at the last association election for the post of vice president. Those to sign the resolution thus support Chaudhary being appointed at the post instead.

“Being the only eligible candidate in the election, by default, Rameshwar Chaudhary has to be treated as elected vice president of the association,” the resolution further mentions. The issue though seems to be heading for legal corridors as most of the RCA executive members are not in agreement with the resolution. They even challenge its legality. “As the norms, it takes three fourth majority of the district associations to depose an elected office bearer.

The resolution of secretary is clear short of the mandate,” says RCA joint secretary Mahendra Nahar. “Also, many of those to have signed the resolution no longer hold offices at the respective district associations and thus they are not eligible to represent the associations either,” he adds.

It has been over a year since the RCA executive was elected. The elections continue to come under question as power league continues between factions of sitting RCA president CP Joshi and former president Lalit Modi.
