The yatra that has chief minister Vasundhara Raje touring the state in a massive outreach programme, was suspended following the worsening condition and later, passing away of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Bharatpur leg of the tour was subsequently scrapped and it was decided that the yatra was resume from Jodhpur, which happens to be the bastion of former chief Ashok Gehlot.

A Swabhiman Rally has been announced on September 22 that would run parallel to the chief minister’s yatra. The rally, according to sources, would be headed by none other than BJP MLA Manvendra who happens to be the son of former foreign minister and MP Jaswant Singh Jasol. The BJP has not planned the CM’s programme at the constituency.

Meanwhile, the case of assault on BJP MP Sonaram has mobilized the Jat community in the region. The farmer’s conference planned in the aftermath of the alleged attack was attended by prominent Jat faces, including Hanuman Beniwal and Congress leader Harish Chaudhary, among others.

Even Gurjar leader Colonel Kirori Bhainsla claimed the community will take their rights, come what may. Speaking at a presser he said there would be a fierce agitation for quota in government jobs if the government didn’t pay heed to their demands.
