Congress accused the Raje government of swindling funds meant to be spent on buying medicines for cows in Jaipur’s Hingonia cow-shelter. The Opposition party asked the BJP government why it kept the probe into death of bovines at the cow-shelter in abeyance.

“The party has accessed documents that reveal that no medicines, antibiotics, injections, drips were available for treatment of the cows between July and October 2016. It means the grants for the cow-shelter did not reach the desired point and were not used for rehabilitation of cows at Hingonia cow-shelter. The Raje government should make public the records of the stock register so that the people could know the truth of these ‘self-proclaimed cow-devotees’. Also the records of grants released till date for 2562 registered cow shelters must be released by the government,” said Congress national spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in a press conference held at the PCC headquarters on Tuesday.

The party spokesperson also questioned the intentions of the Raje government for keeping the probe into the death of bovines pending. Also, the government did not give heed to the directives of Rajasthan high court, he alleged. “Rajasthan HC in April 2017 issued directives to the government to make tin-shed and shelters for cows in Hingonia shelter, but the government did not act,” said Surjewala.
