In wake of coming Lok Sabha elections the state election department has geared up to update the voters list. The election authorities on Sunday held special camps at the polling booths across the state. Next camps will be held on January 20, said sources.

Chief electoral officer Anand Kumar has appealed to the eligible voters to get the names added in the rolls so that they can take part in the festival of democracy due in April-May.

The youngsters who turned 18 years old as on January 31, 2019 are eligible to apply for the voter list under special summary revision programme which was launched holding camps at the polling booths on Sunday.

“Under the special summary revision, eligible voters can add their names by February 22. The existing voters can also apply for rectification of details. We have held special camps on Sunday to add voters while the second edition for it would be held on January 20,” Kumar said.

Kumar also appealed to the political parties to take part in the programme to refine the rolls.

“The political parties representatives, with the help of their booth level agents, identify double and multiple entries of voters so these could be deleted after proper verification,” he said.

The election authorities have decided to seek objections on the draft list by January 25 so the process of issuing final rolls could be completed on time.

It may be noted here that the Congress during the recent Assembly elections had raised the issue of double and multiple entries of voters before the election commission of India (ECI).

The voters, if have any doubt about exclusion of their names from the rolls can search their names in Raj election app available on Google play store.

Downloading the application a voter may search his or her name in the rolls. “To help voters in finding names and check his or her information, the app has been designed. The app was a hit in recent Assembly elections and many voters had downloaded it to satisfy their queries,” said an election officer.

Notably there were 4.74 crore registered voters as per the final rolls published for recent Rajasthan Assembly elections.

This figure may go up further as the rolls will be revised including those who turned 18 as on January 31, 2019.
