Rajasthan varsity donates Rs 11 lakh to families of 2 deceased students

The university, on Saturday, donated Rs 5.5 lakh each to families of Ayush Garg and Deekshant Thadani, who were second and third year BBA students at Commerce College.

Extending a helping hand, the University of Rajasthan donated Rs 11 lakh to two families of the deceased students studying in the varsity.

In addition to this, vice chancellor RK Kothari has also approved financial assistance of Rs 3.8 lakh to Geetanjali Jalu, a 26-year-old postgraduate student who will be soon getting a kidney transplant done.

The university, on Saturday, donated Rs 5.5 lakh each to families of Ayush Garg and Deekshant Thadani, who were second and third year BBA students at Commerce College. Both the students passed away a few days ago. Garg lost his life after he slipped into sewage tunnel due to heavy water flow, while, Thadani met with a road accident.

It is to be noted that Thadani’s parents further helped five families by donating his organs as the body was found on time and had not decomposed.

Furthermore, the university, under the policy of donating money to families of students who passed away due to some accident, has donated as much as Rs 82.50 lakh to families of 48 students till now.

The post-graduate student, who will be receiving money for kidney transplant, is a student of music at the university, whose father will donate his kidney to her.

“I am very thankful to the university for helping us with financial assistance. We were trying hard to arrange for the required amount from past several weeks as the transplant is an urgent need. My father is also preparing himself for the changes that he will have to make after the transplant,” Jalu said.

“Efforts like these help the students and families re-build their lives. It gives strength to the family as they can start something in his or her name,” said Sarina Kalia, DSW.
