Sparkling clean water will soon start flowing into the iconic Gular and Ramchandrapura Dams after about 15 years as these dams are set to get a makeover.

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will take up the work of excavating soil and sludge from nearly two metre stretch in both the dams under the Dravyavati River Rejuvenation Project. Both dams are expected to be cleaned before monsoon. Both Ramchandrapura and Gular dams are in the river drift area.

Gular Dam is located in Sanganer area while Ramchandrapura Dam is built at Vidhani on the last edge of the Dravyavati River. JDA has given Dravyavati River Rejuvenation Project to Tata company and under it, the company will be cleaning both the dams so that the water of the river remains sparkling clean. It may be recalled that during the floods of 1981, both Gular and Ramchandrapura dams were breached and the water resource department had rebuilt these dams in 2003. Since long soil and sludge has got deposited in both these dams due to flow of muddy water, soil and sewage into the Dravyavati River in about two meters of the dam area making the water dirty.

To clean the water in the dams and the river, under the Dravyavati Project, sewer water will be treated and for this 5 STPs are being constructed in every 6 kilometer of the river flow area.
