With the state government planning to begin transferring teachers out of the so-called dark zone as soon as exams for all classes get over, the education department is working towards drawing up guidelines for the transfer process in the 10 districts in the state that fall under this zone.

A dark zone covers regions where government staff is in short supply and therefore the quality of education suffers. While the state has withdrawn its ban on transfers involving the zone, education officials have not started the process of reappointing the staff due to the ongoing exams.

“Transfers in the education department will start immediately after all the exams end. The criteria for transfer of teachers in the dark zone will be decided soon,” said Vasudev Devnani, the minister of state for education.
The process is likely to begin after the second week of April, as that’s when exams for all classes get over.

The state government had banned transfer of teachers and staff posted in the 10 districts of the dark zone some 17 years ago. These districts include Banswara, etc. Teachers posted in these districts have remained here for 20 to 25 years.
