Rajasthan: Three including minor swept away in Kota, Baran

The intensity of rains dropped on Sunday after persistent rainfall for 20 hours in Kota region, however, dark clouds continued to hover throughout the day. Heavy rains are predicted in the region for next 24 hours.

In two separate incidents, two persons swept away in overflowing rivulets in Harnawdashashaji and Anta areas of Baran district while a minor boy was washed away into Ujaad river in Sangod area of Kota district. One of the three bodies was recovered while the search operation is in place to recover the other two bodies from Sangod and Anta areas.

The intensity of rains dropped on Sunday after persistent rainfall for 20 hours in Kota region, however, dark clouds continued to hover throughout the day. Heavy rains are predicted in the region for next 24 hours.  

Deepak Agarwal (30), a resident of Shorekhankala of Baran district, swept away after he jumped into rivulet to save his buffalo that fell into the flooding water. The search operation was put in place immediately, said SHO at Anta police station Ramanand Yadav. While Ram Singh Meena (50), a resident of Umeriya village fell into overflowing river near his home while he was answering the call of nature. His body was on Sunday morning recovered from about 100 metre away from the incident site. Moreover, in the third incident, a 15-year-old boy identified as Faizal fell into Ujaad river and was swept away while he was taking bath on the river shore. His body is yet to be recovered. Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla on Sunday toured to flood-hit areas in Sultanpur and Itawa areas of Kota district. The persistent rains in the area for last 36 hours have caused heavy damage to Soyabean and black gram crops. The state government has been informed of the damage to the crops and divisional commissioner has also been directed to carry out survey of the damage incurred so that the affected farmers can be compensated for the loss, Birla said. State agriculture minister Prabhu Lal Saini also toured flood affected areas in Baran district.
