Opposition party Congress at Jaipur has found a political platform in the ‘Smart City’ scheme of prime minister Narendra Modi. The city wing of Congress shall launch its next campaign “Bhrashtachar Hatao- BJP Bhagao” from Kishanpole Bazar where Smart City works are presently under progress.
“The Smart City project is an edifice of BJP’s corruption, a large amount of public money is being wasted on the pretext of the project and at the same time, the heritage of the Walled City area is being destroyed. It is thus that Congress on June 20 shall launch its campaign from Kishanpole with exposing the corruption in the project,” said Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, president Jaipur district Congress.
The campaign was decided at a meeting of the 16 newly appointed blockheads of city Congress held at the residence of Khachariyawas on Friday. As part of the campaign, Congress leaders will hold a march in all the assembly constituencies of the city in the coming days.
Congress has alleged that all development bodies including the Jaipur Development Authority and Municipal Corporation are being misused by the BJP government at state. However, it has decided to target the Smart City Limited in the beginning of the project to ride on the public resentment at Walled City towards the Smart City works.
Several local resident bodies of Walled City area have held a protest against the Smart City works. The BJP is anticipating the Smart City works to stand as a testimony of its efforts for infrastructure development, however, even before the works complete, Congress shall develop it as a platform to launch its political campaign ahead of the assembly elections scheduled in end of this year.
