The state government will be soon sending a proposal to the union government seeking review of the cadre strength of IAS in the state in view of the paucity of officers.

The decision was taken on Thursday during a meeting between the chief Secretary NC Goel and the officials of Rajasthan Administrative service (RAS) association which was led by its President Pawan Arora.

For the first time in the state, on the initiative of Pawan Arora, meeting related to issues of RAS was held which went on for about one and half hours.During the meeting, it was discussed that state will be sending the proposal for review of the cadre strength due to fewer number of officers. Currently, the cadre size is of 313 officers, of which 249 are currently posted while remaining posts are lying vacant.

At present, there are more number of IAS officers in states similar to Rajasthan in size and if the number increases, the speed of development works will also speed up. On another important matter, an agreement has been reached on giving relaxation for promotion in super time scale in Rajasthan administrative services. Relaxation related to mandate of 18 years experience for promotion in super time scale will also be relaxed. Similarly, an agreement on relaxing the condition of 45% posts being empty  for promotion from junior scale to senior scale has also been made.

The agreement on increasing grade pay of Rs 9,500 to Rs 10,000 in super time scale of RAS was also reached upon during the meeting.

Currently, the proposal is pending with the chief minister office after it was given approval from department of finance and department of personnel.
