Rajasthan: Sanjay Agarwal to attend Interpol meet on organised crime

Police commissioner Sanjay Agarwal will take participation in 24th Interpol, Americas Regional Conference scheduled to be held in Punta Del Este, Uruguay from July 10 to 13. The department of personnel (DoP) has given clearance to his foreign visit.

According to the sources, senior law enforcement officials focus on the critical transnational crime issues in the Americas Regional Conference. Organised crime including drugs, human and weapons trafficking, terrorism and cybercrime are discussed by delegates from participating countries.

This time, the Union ministry of External Affairs has picked Raj cadre IPS officer Agarwal to be part of the delegates attending the regional conference. The officer will be on a three-day deputation (excluding journey time), to attend the conference starting from July 10.

As per rules laid in the permission sanctioned to the officer, he, after attending the conference, will submit a report on the outcome of his visit to the external ministry. “Also, the permission is subject to the condition of obtaining political clearance from the ministry of external affairs,” reads his foreign visit sanction letter for which the state finance department has already given clearance for expenditure on his visit.

The Interpol convenes regular regional conferences in Europe, Africa, America and Asia, bringing together police from across the globe to share experiences and discuss ways to tackle common security issues. The Interpol is the world’s largest international police organisation with 192 member countries.

The role of the organisation is to enable police around the world to work together to make the world a safer place and provide a high-tech infrastructure of technical and operational support to meet the growing challenges of fighting crime in the 21st century.
