Rajasthan Roadways strike could be seen as bad economics for the organisation. Since last three days, roadways buses were off the track and were in absolute silence in various bus depots and Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur.

The bus stands and pickup points have literally been taken over by Lok Parivahan buses and roadways buses of other states.

While the private buses were charging more money in the times when the passengers are running for buses, on the other hand, the fares of Lok Parivahan Sewa on many routes are less than the fares of Rajasthan Roadways, which is attracting passengers beyond expectation. In fact, on Narayan Singh Circle bus stand, a Lok Parivahan Sewa Bus waits for passengers in every 5 minutes.

The Narayan Singh Circle bus stand is a big pick up point for destinations like Delhi, Agra, Bharatpur among others. When DNA checked with the passengers and drivers of Lok Parivahan, it was informed that for Delhi, the buses were charging Rs270 while the fare of a general bus for Delhi by Rajasthan Roadways is Rs 273. For Bharatpur, the fare of roadways is Rs195, while for Lok Parivahan its Rs175.

Still in usual days, the passengers prefer Roadways bus, however, due to the strike, one can only find Haryana Roadways buses and Lok Parivahan buses taking a major chunk of passengers from Narayan Singh Circle.

The UP Roadways and private buses are also taking the share of passengers. The situation is the same at almost every other bus stand in the city. Ironically, while one of the demands of striking Rajasthan Roadways employees is to keep the Lok Parivahan buses away from bus stands, but for the last three days, they themselves have served the bus stands and passengers in a platter to Lok Parivahan and other competitors.
