The striking roadways employees and staff of Jaipur City Transport Service Limited (JCTSL) buses did not turn up for work on the sixth day on Saturday. The department of transport issued an appeal to the striking employees informing them that the committee under the chairmanship of retired chief secretary Ashok Jain had been formed to look into the demands of the roadways employees and said that 4 meetings of this committee have already taken place.

The appeal issued in the name of commissioner transport said that after the committee hears all the members, which also has the representation from various employees organisations and roadways management, the committee will give its report.

This committee was formed after an agreement was done in the month of July when roadways employees had resorted to strike for 3 days. However, this has not made the roadways employees relent and they have vowed to intensify their agitation along with strike. On Saturday, they took out a rally from the Sindhi Camp bus stand. However, due to police, the employees, therefore, took out the rally from the exit gate of the bus stand to the entry gate of the bus stand.

On Sunday, they have planned to take out a mashaal julus and are demanding that state government follows the agreement it had made with them in the month of July. In the case of Jaipur City Transport Services Limited, the management seems to be looking helpless as the drivers of these buses are not working since last 6 days.

The daily commuters are not able to avail the services of these buses and as an alternative, they are travelling by minibuses. Since the minibuses are not as per the demand of the city, therefore, the passengers can be seen standing on the gates of these buses.

Moreover, the magic and other such mini seaters are also seen filled over capacity with the passengers. Since Friday, there have been holidays of office-goers and students, however, the rush will return back on Monday and if by then the strike is not over, the passengers will continue to face difficulties.

The Appeal

The appeal issued in the name of commissioner transport said that after the committee hears all the members, which also has the representation from various employees organisations and roadways management, the committee will give its report.
