This is the last week of May and the much awaited Southwest Monsoon has finally arrived over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to weathermen, it will take about 3-4 days for the Monsoon to strike Kerala. But, in Rajasthan, the people will have to wait for at least 20 days for monsoon. Heatwave conditions continued to grip many parts of the state as mercury is still over the 45 degrees Celsius mark in most places. In fact, on Sunday, the maximum temperature in Churu was recorded at 47.5 degrees Celsius and it was the hottest place in India.
In Jaipur, after observing a warmer night with the minimum temperature of 29.7 degrees Celsius, mercury started to rise with the beginning of the day. Heatwave like conditions forced people to stay inside and as it was a Sunday city roads appeared deserted during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was recorded at 44.5 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal level and according to local MeT office it will touch the 45 degrees Celsius mark on Monday.

Barmer and Jaisalmer recorded the maximum temperature of 46.5 and 46.4 degrees Celsius respectively. Maximum temperature remained above 45 degrees Celsius at Kota, Bikaner and Churu while Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Sriganganagar observed the maximum temperature above 44 degrees Celsius.
As per weathermen dry and warm northwesterly winds are prevailing over Northwest India and Pakistan region. Along with this, due to the presence of feeble Western Disturbances, dry weather heatwave conditions continued to prevail over the parts of the state. Due to clear sky conditions, temperatures are also expected to rise and the MeT has issued a warning that heatwave conditions continue to prevail in some parts of the state during the next 24 hours.

Maximum temperature remained above 45 degrees Celsius at Kota, Bikaner and Churu while Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Sriganganagar observed the maximum temperature above 44 degrees Celsius. As per weathermen dry and warm northwesterly winds are prevailing over Northwest India and Pakistan region.
