With both BJP and Congress giving stress to strong social media presence for their leaders, ministers, legislators, party postholders and ticket hopefuls have all begun establishing themselves on social media. Most are uninitiated and seek professional help for handling their various social media platforms.

This has created scope for specialised professionals who range from IIT and BTech pass outs, smaller companies and cyber who provide content and means to enhance outreach on various platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Youtube and Instagram.

"It is not just registering a presence on social media. We build an image, cultivate dedicated followers. For this, we provide interactive platforms and at times even personal meetings to active followers. This gives a big boost to our outreach," said Hardik Dwivedi, founder Unicorn Media Works.

They also have the responsibility of managing the trolling and vicious tweets of opposing factions. The service providers either try to pacify them with the response and for persistent negative posts, they adopt the easy way of blocking the person.

"We have several ministers and MPs as clients and work in consultation with them. They want that it should appear that they are personally handling social media and so secrecy is very important. An internal WhatsApp group is created for consultation and approval of the draft of every post and tweet. They require that the posts project them as knowledgeable and want us to respond to every query with facts and data," said a technical expert who did not wish to be named.

The services have a price that begins at around 25000 per month for a client and goes up to 5 lakh a month. The cost depends on the client requirement, a number of platforms and also the technical expertise of persons providing services.

But the most tricky part is when they have clients from opposing parties who will need opposite content on the same issue. "Then we provide dedicated persons to them. This is professionalism, we provide catchy content on demand and having opposing clients makes it all the more fun," said Shambu Singh, relationship manager.
