Rajasthan polls: BJP second phase for selecting candidates begins today

The second phase of the BJP's feedback programme to select potential candidates for the assembly elections will begin in Jaipur on Saturday. The party will hear the opinion of the workers for the 98 assembly seats of the State Election Management Committee and other senior leaders of Jaipur, Bharatpur and Ajmer divisions.

The second step of the feedback programme for the candidate selection will be of three days. On Saturday, feedback for 36 assembly seats of BJP's eight organisational districts will be taken. On Sunday, the feedback for 35 constituencies will be heard. While on Monday, opinions of party office-bearers of Jaipur city and Jaipur district and 27 Assembly seats for Sikar will be taken.

According to the programme schedule, BJP leaders will interact with the assembly-wise BJP office-bearers and public representatives and take feedback about probable candidates. After forming the various group of three-four assembly constituencies, different organisational leaders will take feedback from the party workers. The panel of probable candidates will be prepared on the basis of names obtained from the workers. This panel will be sent to the central leadership. After that, the parliamentary board of BJP will decide the final candidate. The feedback programme will include party's district and mandal office-bearers, former post holders, public representatives of urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions, current and former legislators, current and former MPs and other office-bearers.

The saffron party has started the process of selection of probable candidates for assembly elections from October 14 from Ranakpur town of Pali district. Senior BJP leaders are meeting the organisation office bearers of the all the 200 assembly constituencies. They want to know the pulse of party workers for the probable candidates. During the first phase of feedback programme in Ranakpur, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, national vice president Om Prakash Mathur, Union Minister and Convenor of State Election Management Committee, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, State In-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, national joint organisation secretary V Satish, state organisational general secretary Chandrasekhar, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi, state president Madan Lal Saini and other senior leaders sought feedback for 102 assembly seats.
