A WhatsApp message that went viral has put the Rajasthan police on its toes. Calling for a Bharat bandh on April 10, the message targeted various sections of the society and told them to make the proposed bandh a huge success.

This bandh is being planned in the wake of the recent one on April 2 by the SC/ST communities.

Stung by the April 2 shocker, the police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that life is normal and peace is not disturbed in the state on Tuesday. The police has made elaborate security arrangements across the state. Para military forces have been deployed in 13 districts to avert any untoward incidents for the first time in 10 years.

No organisation or individual has come forward to give the bandh call. But to be on the safe side, the state police deployed several companies of Rapid Action Force and Special Task Force along with parliamentary forces to tackle the situation in case there is a standstill and violence breaks out.

Taking a cue from the recent violence in the SC/ST Bharat bandh, the police reached out to several social organisations across Rajasthan.

“During the past week, we spoke with several organisations. Right from the station house officers, who contacted people in their respective areas, to the district Superintendent of Police, cops contacted hundreds of people and organisations who denied that they had given the bandh call. We got them to submit in writing that there will be no violence,” said NRK Reddy, ADG, law and order, Rajasthan Police.

However, the police still made adequate deployment to counter any eventuality. “Thirty six companies of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) as well as 30 companies of paramilitary forces, including BSF, CISF and CRPF, have been deployed in addition to extra forces from the state police. We still have additional companies at our disposal in case there is any emergency. Adequate manpower has been deployed,” the ADG said.

Meanwhile in Jaipur, seven companies of RAC have been deployed and conducted flag march in sensitive areas.
