Of late, Rajasthan has been in the limelight for hosting many celebrity weddings and events — Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas and the pre-wedding ceremonies of Isha Ambani-Anand Piramal that happen over the weekend. But it’s not just an exotic wedding destination.

The desert state is also one of the top destinations in the itinerary of travel bloggers from around the globe, as well as international photographers. The royal state boasts many colours, festivals, heritage and folklore. AFTERhrs asked a few international tourists who were here over the past fortnight about what put Jaipur on their travel list.

Amazing architecture, sunsets

French couple, Magali Lemarchand and Marlon Menard, who blog under the @gipsystraveleverywhere on Instagram decided to travel to India. After some research, they found Jaipur to be a beautiful city with amazing architecture. “I have worked in the field of art all my life, so I had to see this. We visited the City Palace and the doors are incredible! The Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal) is just awesome, and we even had lunch on a rooftop in front of it, with a picturesque view,” said Magali. “Amber Fort and Jal Mahal look spectacular at sunset. We had rented a motorbike to roam around the city. Our experience and stay in Jaipur was so amazing that we would definitely visit this place again,” added the traveller couple. The couple spent four days in Jaipur.

Magic in every stone

Another travel vlogger. Ivana Perkovic, who blogs on Instagram under the handle tavelvlogiv, was brought up in Netherlands. Her father wanted to travel around India on his first visit to the country. “He wanted to see all my favourite places, which was impossible; however, Jaipur has definitely been topmost on my list. So, I decided to give dad the best experience by showing him the magical Pink City. We also attended a big fat Indian wedding — that of my friend,” she said.

“One of my favourite places in India, not just Jaipur or Rajasthan, is Amber Fort. There is absolute magic in every stone of that gorgeous place. Next to Amber Fort, we also visited Nahargarh Fort for the sunset, the incredible City Palace and the Hawa Mahal. Shopping here is also fun,” she expressed. “We only visited for two days but Jaipur is one of those places that just keeps getting better each time you return. There’s always something new to discover and you’ll never run out of options to sightsee, shop and eat,” she added.

Hand painted rooms, mirrored ceilings

Allison Bagg, a traveler and digital collage artist from Los Angeles, visited the Pink City and loved the desert landscape. “I was the most excited to spend some extra time in Jaipur because I had seen so many beautiful photos of its pink walls and beautiful cafes. It’s a bit of an Instagram trap, to be honest,” she said. The blogger who posts on the Instagram handle, @abagg, added, “I had an amazing time in Jaipur. I had an amazing time exploring more rural areas around Samode Palace and Alila Fort. I visited the City Palace, which is one of the highlights of the trip. The hand painted rooms and mirrored ceilings were stunning. We also got to see the sunset from the roof of the palace, and admired the royal peacocks running around the garden.” said Allison. “I also stopped by the Hawa Mahal, totally enamoured by the honeycomb architecture and pink sandstone, and enjoyed the bazaar around there as well. Lastly, I loved exploring Amber Fort and had an adventurous walk among elephants and monkeys to Panna Meena Ka Kund afterwards. I definitely plan on visiting Jaipur again! There is so much more to see and fall in love with,” she added.
